2016-2017 – BV Events Calender v4

Boroondara Bowls Festival

The Boroondara Bowls festival is an annual one day competition sponsored by the City Council and is played between the eight bowls clubs in the council area. Camberwell Central won the completion in 2014.  In 2015 the competition will be hosted by Burwood Club and played on Sunday 19th September.

Midweek Pennant (Tuesdays 10am – 2:30pm)

The club fields one mixed side (Division 1 Open in season 2015) of twelve players in the Bowls Victoria sponsored midweek competition. The season is played over an 18 week home and away competition plus finals from late September to March (with a break over Xmas / New Year).

Midweek Pennant Draw 2015-6

Le Pine Tournament – In 2015 Le Pine will sponsor an interclub match one week prior to Round 1 of the pennant

Tuesday Social Bowls (Tuesdays 10am – 2:30pm) A social match played at CCBC for those midweek players who aren’t selected to play in the Pennant team or just want an enjoyable few hours on the green.

Wednesday Night

  • Bowls World Inner City Pennant: (6:45pm – 9:30pm) an invitational competition played amongst a number of near city clubs over approx 14 weeks commencing in November with the finals in late Feb/ early March. Format of the matches is 2 bowl triples with each club fielding two rinks of 3 players. Standard of competition varies. Suits players who want to keep their skills sharp. Learn to play a different position in the team etc., and a great competition for those that can’t play Saturday pennants.
  • Inter Club Social Vs Ashburton. (6:45pm – 9pm) – Venue alternates between the clubs each week – a friendly by very competitive weekly social match.

  • Our traditional weekly training session is conducted between 4pm and 7pm. We encourage those players who can attend – but we also recognise that those of us who work may not be able to attend at this time. Attendance at training isn’t a pre-requisite for selection in pennants teams as long as the player meets performance standards.

Friday Night Social Bowls: (5pm onwards)

A chance to relax at the end of the week, play a social game, enjoy a cheap but very pleasant meal and a drink. Bring the family (bring the kids) and invite friends. Visitors are welcome.

Saturday Pennants: (12:45pm – 5pm)

The Bowls Victoria sponsored Saturday Pennant is the major team competition between clubs. CCBC enters two mixed (open) teams of 16 players in the Pennant. In season 2015 these will be in Division 3 and Division 6. Played over an 18 week home and away season plus finals with a break for Xmas / New Year the summer pennant season dovetails neatly with the AFL season so that we are all able to follow our other passion – or take the annual trip north for winter.

Saturday Pennant Draw 2015-6

Saturday Social Bowls (12:45pm – 4:30pm)

A social match played at CCBC for those players who aren’t selected to play in the Pennant teams. A mid-afternoon break is taken at 2:40 – 3pm for refreshments.

Club Championships

All players (regardless of ability) are encouraged to “have a go” in the Club Championships. We’ve had some surprising results over the years with a number of players receiving reality checks!

The club runs open (male and females compete on an equal basis) Championships in

  • Singles
  • Pairs, and
  • Triples

Nominations are called at the start of the summer season and all matches must be played by 24 December – to allow winners to nominate for regional championships

Le Pine – Club Fours Championship (End of March)

Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Le Pine the club conducts an end of season tournament at the end of March each year. Format is a round robin competition of three matches between the Saturday Pennant teams in each Division. A playoff is also held for social bowlers.
